空難專家指出，失蹤的馬來西亞航空ＭＨ三七○航班的殘骸證實，襟翼當時處於伸展準備降落狀態，顯示機師蓄意駕機墜海。

空難專家范斯表示，沒有其他論點可以解釋這樁飛機失事。

范斯七月卅一日接受澳洲第九頻道電視台訪問指出：「有人蓄意駕機墜海。」

這架載有兩百卅九人的飛機二○一四年三月八日從吉隆坡飛往北京，途中卻偏離航線轉南飛往印度洋墜海。

范斯相信，一年前在馬達加斯加海岸發現的飛機襟副翼（flaperon）殘骸顯示「證據確鑿」，襟翼處於伸展狀態，只有人為操作才可以伸展襟翼。

他說，飛機顯然是在人為操控下緩慢墜海，這也可說明為何遲遲無法找到大量的漂浮殘骸。

澳洲運輸安全局調查員佛里也同意，機師蓄意駕機墜海。他說法國當局的分析顯示，飛機墜毀時襟翼可能處於「伸展狀態」。這片襟副翼殘骸一直留在法國，發現至今已一年，仍未移交馬來西亞調查人員。

佛里推斷，如果飛機直到最後仍有人操控，就有可能墜毀在目前搜索範圍以外的位置。
